Mountain Biking, Mountain Bike Tours, Urubamba, Cusco, Peru, Pisac, Saqsaywaman, Sacsayhuaman, Ollantaytambo, Sacred Valley
Cusco to Ollantaytambo This tour can be coordinated in conjunction with the train journey from Ollantaytambo to Machu Picchu or the Inca Trail trek and could also be done in reverse. Payment for the Tourist Ticket will allow you to visit most of the sites on this tour at a lower cost than if you paid separately at each site. Moray and Las Salineras are the only sites not included in this ticket on this tour.
Day 1 - Cusco to Lucre. We will meet you at your hotel in Cusco where the bikes will be adjusted for correct fit and maps and tour notes will be distributed if the guests have chosen to guide themselves. Between Cusco and Lucre you can visit the site of Tipon. After finding your accommodation in Lucre and having lunch there are various sites around Lucre including Pikillaqta and the Huarcarpay Lake (Laguna de Huarcarpay) you can visit. What sites you don't visit on this day can be visited when you leave on day 2.
Day 2 - Lucre to Pisac. Leaving Lucre you can continue visiting the sites close at hand before riding into the Sacred Valley. Between Lucre and Pisac you will pass through the town of San Salvador which is the centre of an area that specialises in the production of Kiwicha (Amaranth) and has a festival each year in June to celebrate this. After arriving at your accommodation in Pisac you can visit the local market or the archaeological site (allow 2hrs.) above the town.
Day 3 - Pisac to Urubamba. In the morning you can visit whichever option you didn't take the previous afternoon before continuing your ride to Urubamba and Hospedaje Los Jardines for your third night of accommodation. Depending on how quickly you are travelling you could have lunch in Calca (Jacinta Restaurant) or Urubamba or your accommodation in Pisac could prepare a boxed lunch at extra cost for you.
Day 4 - Urubamba to Ollantaytambo. After breakfast you can go straight on to Ollantaytambo or, if you are feeling energetic and have the time, one of our taxi drivers can take you to Maras from where you can ride to and from Moray before descending to Las Salineras (The Salt Mines) and thence back into the valley to continue on to Ollantaytambo. Allow 2 hours for the site at Ollantaytambo before riding the last 9 kms to the Ñustayoc Lodge which is close to the starting point for the Inca Trail trek.
